Similar to Merge Polys, but works on all elements. Selected edges then applying Dissolve will merge the polygons used by the selected edges. It cannot be used for deleting edges on the outside of polygons.
The first and second pictures show an internal edge being dissolved, but the outside edge in the third picture cannot be dissolved.
