Octane Wave Texture

The Wave texture supports three (3) different kinds of Wave texture:

  1. Sine Waves

  2. Saw Waves

  3. Triangle Waves

The Sine Wave, Saw Wave and Triangle Wave textures can be used to create various banding or striped patterns.

Texture Node Inputs

Translation (XYZ): Sets the position of the texture on the surface in an XYZ direction.

Rotation (HPB): Sets the rotation of the texture on the surface using Heading, Pitch and Bank.

Scale (XYZ) Sets the scale of the texture on the surface by percentage in the XYZ direction.

Offset: Used to shift the position of the pattern on the surface. The Noise or Turbulence Nodes can be used to change the appearance of the pattern.

Projection: Sets the way the texture is projected onto the surface

Wave Texture Parameters

There are three types of waves available in the Sine Wave node:

  • Sine wave

  • Triangle

  • Saw wave

  • Offset: Used to shift the position of the pattern on the surface. The Noise or Turbulence Nodes can be used to change the appearance of the pattern.

  • Transform: Sets the position, scale, and rotation of the texture on the surface, as explained in this section.

  • Projection: Sets the way the texture is projected onto the surface, as explained here.

Usage

The Wave node, similar to the Checks Node, has no color associated with it, so the Gradient 2 node is used to provide colour input as shown below.

The Gradient 2 node is used to provide colour. The Key Color inputs/parameters are used to set the Wave colors.
