Octane Textures

Last modified: 10 March 2025

Octane Render uses its own custom nodes to deal with textures. This section details what those nodes are and how they can be used with Octane Render for LightWave.

The nodes provided are:

  1. Octane Float Texture - The Float texture node provides a map where the texture data is a floating point value between 0.00 and 1.00. This signifies a greyscale value, where the value of 0.00 is darkest, and value of 1.00 is lightest.

  2. Octane Gaussian Spectrum Texture - The Gauss Spectrum texture node is based on a Gaussian distribution spectrum. WaveLength sets the center of the spectrum, and Width sets the curve's width. The narrower the width, the more pure and saturated the color.

  3. Octane RGB Spectrum Texture - The RGB Spectrum Node outputs the color specified in the Color attribute.

  4. Octane Texture Image - The Texture Image Nnode imports external texture maps to any Octane material parameters that accept a texture map. It supports UV Maps and UDIM Image Tiling. Octane materials should use Octane-specific image texture nodes, not LightWave’s native image texture nodes. Only the first three (3) UV Maps are supported.
